Bash Script to record Skype

Daniel Andrlik on his Ministry of Intrigue blog has a great post about how to record your skype calls. HOWTO: Record Skype Conversations In Linux features a great bash script to use Lame and Sox to record Skype conversations.

Why is this useful? Well just one idea that springs to mind, it is half-way towards a workstation-based voicemail/answerphone for Skype users, another is to record interviews for a podcast. I tested it on Gentoo and just did:

emerge -p vsound sox lame

It told me that I had lame already so I just emerged vsound and sox. Other than that I just followed the instructions at Daniel Andrlik's post and Snapper Morgan's origital post, Recording your Skype Calls in Linux.

The script itself is downloaded in a tar archive.
